M 113 in Vietnam WIP (2)

I've been working on the model in my spare time and it is almost ready. The final step will be to attach the 0.5 cal HMG (and apply the varnish), but as far as I'm concerned it is ready to roll in the jungle. My only doubt is if I should base it or not. Next is to attack the second model, a M 113 ACAV.

New Kids on the Block

I discovered this morning through Emilio's A Cova do Trasno blog, a new about-to-be-born miniatures company called Minairons Miniatures. These guys seems looking to tap the "ready-to-roll" vehicles market with a focus in the Spanish Civil War. The first model to be launched is a PzI A with two versions (twin MGs and the Breda-modified model) at 1/72 scale.

M 113 in Vietnam - WIP

A very inspiring post in the TooFatLardies Yahoo Group a few days ago prompted me to rescue from the painting mountain a couple of M 113 models in 28mm acquired sometime ago to play with Charlie Don't Surf: one of the group's regular contributors posted this link to a fabulous collection of original photos mainly of M 113 in action in Vietnam.

So I put aside some of my increasingly scarce free time to paint the models, looking to put them on the table at the autumn-winter playing season at the club. A few photos from the first model, still in a "work in progres" status.

Dux Britanniarum: pre-order period open

Exciting news this afternoon as the TooFatLardies Yahoo Group confirmed that Dux Britanniarum, the new Arthurian period rules-set, is to be launched by July 30th as initially planned. The TFL website is now open for pre-orders. You have two options, the hard-copy only (GBP 20) and the "bundle" (GBP25) including in addition to the hard copy book, a 62 cards-set, a tablet-navigating electrconic version (or a simple pdf, at the buyer's choice) and a special Arthur 28mm figure.

The game description from the website:

Dux Britanniarum is a set of rules for wargaming and campaigning in the Age of Arthur. Covering the period 450AD to 600AD the rule book combine all you need to fight tabletop games and to run a virtually paper-free campaign.

Bovington Museum - WWII Allies Material

With a signficant delay versus my initial plans, this is the second illustrated report of our visit to Bovington Museum, dealing with the WWII Allies collection. As impressive as the German collection, there are asome very interesting French and British "rarities" from the early war period really worth visiting. Hope you enjoy this new entry.

Mounted Combat in Vietnam

I just finished reading this book today in the afternoon and have to say that it is a MUST for any person interested in the Vietnam war and the role of armoured units, written by contemporary actors involved in the conflict... and the best thing of all: it is for free

Stalingrad Campaign: The Director's Cut

Some of you may remember the fantastic Stalingrad Campaign played with my wargaming mates, that I blogged in detail between July 2011 and its conclusion by March 2012. Then I planned to make a final entry in this blog with a post-mortem analysis of the campaign, bringing together the "after the battle" views of the umpire and campaign organiser, as well as those of the German and Red Army commanders respectively. Finally I got only feedback from Alfredo, the umpire (the guy in the photo above); nothing to blame on the other guys, the truth is that we all have a very busy life and can hardly cope with all our obligations. Read now Alfredo's remarks and comments.
